This tale of life in a small village is an American classic.  One of the central characters - the stage manager - introduces the play and its setting.  Looking back from his 1930's vantage point to the year when the drama begins, 1901, he occasionally comments on the action.  Grover's Corners represents the world, with characters reflecting the hopes, dreams, failures, and successes of people everywhere.
